CCF Worship/Sound/Visual Ministry

“But the hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”         –John 4:23-24

“I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  –Romans 12:1-2

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.”                 –Ephesians 3:14-21

Do you enjoy hooking things up to your TV at home?  Is music a passion for you but playing an instrument or singing in front of people completely out of the question?  Has God gifted you with musical ability but you do not know in what ways you may be able to use it?  Do you ever find yourself sitting down at your computer and before you know it two hours have flown by? Do you dabble with home recording?  When you listen to your mp3 player or a cd do you find yourself listening for different parts or what different instruments are playing?  Do you ever wish that you could be more involved with the Body at CCF or interact with and get to know people more?  Do you enjoy making up your own greeting cards or posters?  Do you desire to serve God more faithfully but just don’t know what you could do it or how to go about it?  Do you earn a paycheck using your talents with music, sound, computers or electronics but do not exercise those talents in serving God?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions then you might want to consider praying about becoming involved in the worship, sound and multi-media ministry at Calvary Christian Fellowship!

Sound and visual ministry?  What is that all about?  Is that just one of those title things to make it sound like you are really doing something more than just winding speaker cables up and pushing the keys on a laptop?  Kinda like calling a janitor a facilities engineer?  It makes them feel important and do their job with more enthusiasm.  You know, like the Tom Sawyer thing?

Not at all!  In fact, the ministry part is the most important aspect of what we would like you to become involved in.  Most of the opportunities to serve will be before, during and after Sunday morning worship.  In most churches in America 90% of the time, energy and money of the church is spent on just an hour-and-a-half time span once a week.  This goes for everyone from the pastor, children’s teachers, music leaders, greeters to the person that just comes and attends.   In contrast, how much did Jesus spend time on teaching and instructing us how to do church on Sundays?   But he spent tons of time on speaking about loving and serving God and others around us.  And in Paul’s letters God gives all kinds of insight on how we need to function as a body and love, edify, confront, encourage and serve each other.  That is where the “ministry” part comes in.  We may be actually helping to complete the logistics necessary with sound and visuals to pull off our Sunday worship time but what really matters is the glorifying and worshipping of God and ministering to those who pulled themselves out of bed that morning and have made their way to sit in those hard plastic chairs (now heavy semi-cushy chairs) no matter their motivation.  That is ministry.  And only a part of that ministry is the actual “tasks” we perform.

I am not saying in any way Sunday worship is unimportant, only suggesting that we need to keep our focus on glorifying God and serving others (and allowing others to serve us) rather than just producing an “event”.  It’s not the Sunday service that is important…it is God and praising Him and how he is working among us!

So, as a ministry as opposed to just “helping out”, this becomes an entirely different thing.  A thing that requires God’s leading in everything we do, a thing that requires dedication, excellence  and commitment, a thing that requires focus and purpose and a fellowship together as fellow ministers.

Are you excited!  Do you feel God’s nudging? (or shoving?)  What does this mean to me?  How can I become involved?

Some things will require little to no training at all, just a willing heart and a little time.  Other things we will be providing initial training for and hopefully ongoing training as time goes by and equipment changes and needs for audio enhancement and visuals change.  Also, we will all be meeting together as a group probably once a quarter for our own worship, teaching and training and to keep us focused on our purpose.

Following is a checklist of different areas currently available to serve.  We encourage you to pray about this and ask God for guidance.  Then, if God leads you, please check off everything you have any passion for and follow the directions given.  This does not mean you are committing to all these areas; we just want to know where your interests and talents are.  You will then be contacted so we can get together and talk and to get you plugged into a ministry team of your calling.  Thank you for your faithfulness and willingness to serve.

To God be all the glory!

Please print this off or pick up a sheet on back table on Sunday and check all boxes in which you have an interest.  This does not mean you are committing to all of these things; this is simply a tool to record your interests and talents and to know all the ways that God has gifted you.  We will meet with everyone one-on-one to pray and discuss in what way you would like to serve.  If you have experience in any area please write after description what your experience is.  (Experience is not required; we will be providing training where needed)  Feel free to write in anything else that we may have missed.
